Your Creative Escape to Crete.
The PORTRAIT RETREAT is a new photo travel format for photographers who want to take time for their own photography and do not want to neglect the recreation.
In the south of Crete, we combine portrait photography, creative image ideas, working together with models and inspiring exchange with the peace and lightness of a special journey.
The retreat takes place in the south of Crete, in the vicinity of Plakias. This region has been with me and my wife for more than three years. We especially appreciate the peace, the vastness, the light and the special atmosphere away from the great tourist places.
PHOTOGRAPHY MEETS HOLIDAY FEELING
A retreat, not a classic workshop
The PORTRAIT RETREAT is not a pure workshop trip with a rigid program from morning to night. It is a combination of photography, recreation, exchange and time experienced together.
We photograph in selected places, use the special light of Crete and deal with picture ideas, posing, light, atmosphere and storytelling. At the same time, there is room for breaks, conversations, good food and personal impressions.
Plakias offers several beautiful taverns where we can sit together in the evening. With good food we end the day, talk about photography and about what was created during the day.
WHY CRETE AND WHAT TO EXPECT
Light, landscape and portrait photography in a relaxed atmosphere
The south of Crete offers a special blend of rough landscape, warm light, quiet places and Mediterranean atmosphere. Around Plakias we find beaches, rocks, small paths, open landscapes and quiet corners that are ideal for natural portrait series.
It is precisely this diversity that makes the PORTRAIT RETREAT exciting. We use the special light of Crete, work with models in selected places and deal with picture ideas, posing, expression, atmosphere and storytelling.
I accompany you during the shootings, give you feedback and support you in photographing more consciously and safely. It is not about producing as many pictures as possible, but about developing images that carry a mood and match your photographic language.
For me, Crete is a place where you can work creatively and switch off at the same time. It is precisely this combination of photography, peace and personal exchange that forms the basis of PORTRAIT RETREATS.

Exclusive Villas in Plakias
For the PORTRAIT RETREAT we use three new villas, which Sifis completed in 2026. This accommodation is exclusively at our disposal and offers the right setting for a quiet, personal and inspiring photo trip.
The villas offer enough space for retreat, exchange and shared moments. They are an ideal starting point for our photographic activities in the vicinity of Plakias.

The PORTRAIT RETREAT is aimed at photographers who like to photograph portraits and want to develop their work in an inspiring environment.
You should enjoy getting involved with people, places, light and moods. The retreat is particularly suitable for photographers who do not just want to take pictures, but want to work more consciously and deepen their visual language.
It doesn’t need a perfect routine, but openness, curiosity and the willingness to deal with one’s own photography.
