Shapes and Shadows – A Studio Session with Luana

A few years ago, in the calm and focused atmosphere of my photography studio in Zurich, I had the pleasure of working once again with Luana Silva – a model whose creativity and presence always inspire me deeply. This black-and-white series is the result of one of our many collaborations, and it remains one of my favorites.

The simplicity of the setting allowed me to fully concentrate on form, texture, and light. I was drawn to the way shadows softly carved the contours of Luana’s body, revealing an interplay between elegance and strength. Her intuitive understanding of movement and expression gave each frame an effortless flow, making the session feel less like a photo shoot and more like a visual conversation.

Black-and-white photography has always fascinated me – not just for its timeless aesthetic, but for its ability to strip things down to their essence. This series reflects that: bold yet delicate, minimal but emotionally rich. It’s a study of the human form, light, and the subtle magic that happens when trust and vision align.

Working with Luana is always a creative joy. We’ve developed a mutual rhythm over the years, and this familiarity allowed us to explore new ideas with confidence and ease. I’m grateful for what we created together and happy to share a selection of these images on my website as part of this editorial collection.
