The quiet elegance of natural light can shape a photograph more profoundly than any backdrop or filter. In this editorial, created in collaboration with model Pascale in the heart of Berlin Mitte, daylight played the leading role. The soft yet defined light flooded the room through tall windows facing the street, bathing the scene in a subtle, ever-shifting glow. It was a setting that seemed made for black-and-white photography – honest, raw, and rich in contrast.

What makes these images truly stand out is how the polished parquet floor reflects the incoming light. In some frames, Pascale appears almost detached from the background, her silhouette gently lifted by the mirrored highlights at her feet. This detail adds an unexpected spatial tension, quietly amplifying the depth and mood of each portrait.

My time in Berlin was as inspiring as ever. I first discovered the city during a time of tremendous change, and its constant evolution continues to fascinate me. It’s a place that always feels like it’s becoming something new. This shoot captured a moment in that flow – intimate, simple, and deeply present.
