I’ve known Christine Lam for many years, and it was only a matter of time before we brought one of our shared ideas to life: a minimalist black-and-white photo series set against the raw, alpine beauty of the Swiss mountains. Christine is an experienced model based in Switzerland, and working with her is always a relaxed and intuitive process. This session was no exception — spontaneous and full of quiet energy.

The photographs were taken in the Upper Valais (Oberwallis), a region I find incredibly inspiring for this type of imagery. Its rugged terrain and expansive skies provide a dramatic backdrop. But it’s also a demanding location, especially on clear days when the sunlight is strong and unfiltered. There’s no shade, no natural diffusion — the light strikes directly, revealing every detail with honesty.

And that’s precisely what draws me to it. I like the unpredictability of such conditions. Only when facing the unknown — a shifting sky, a challenging contrast, a fleeting moment — do I discover the most authentic and expressive frames. Black-and-white photography intensifies this effect. It strips away distraction and focuses entirely on light, form, emotion, and presence.

This images capture the essence of our shoot: movement, strength, silence — a visual conversation between model and landscape. As always, working with Christine was a pleasure. Sometimes, the best photographs happen when nothing is forced.
