A Quiet Venetian Moment

Dayane and I had arrived in Venice a day before my photography course began. The weather was beautiful, the food was perfect, and the mood was calm — the kind of day that makes you slow down and notice every detail. Between espresso and laughter, we decided to use the afternoon light for a spontaneous photo session on a small balcony.

Dayane has a slight fear of heights, but she faced it with quiet confidence. That mix of strength and vulnerability was exactly what I wanted to capture. The soft winter sun stood low, bathing the narrow Venetian alleys in a gentle glow. The bright walls of the opposite building reflected just enough light back to create a natural studio feel — a touch of brilliance among the old stones.

The black-and-white look emphasizes this calm strength. Without the distraction of colour, the focus shifts entirely to her expression, her pose, and the fine play of light and shadow. For me, this photograph is a reminder that sometimes the most serene moments arise when we step a little beyond our comfort zone.
