During my recent trip to Venice with Fabia, I set out to capture the essence of the city in a series of black-and-white portraits. I wanted to integrate the urban scenery into the images, blending the architectural charm of Venice with the presence of my model. The play of light and shadow was essential, and thanks to the exceptionally good weather, I was able to work exclusively with natural daylight, enhancing the depth and mood of each shot.
The atmosphere in the images is a mix of elegance and raw authenticity. The quiet canals, aged facades, and narrow alleyways provided the perfect backdrop, complementing Fabia’s expressive yet natural presence. The editorial reflects a timeless aesthetic, with a focus on contrast, texture, and a cinematic feel that immerses the viewer in both the subject and the surroundings.
Venice is one of my favorite cities, and it continues to inspire me every time I return. Its unique atmosphere, rich history, and ever-changing light make it an endless source of creative ideas. That’s why I organize the PORTRAIT INTENSE CLASS there once a year, offering photographers the opportunity to explore portrait photography in this extraordinary setting. Those interested can find more information in the CLASSES section. Working with Fabia was an absolute pleasure—her professionalism and energy made the shoot effortless, and within a short time, we experienced and created an incredible amount together.
