Inspired by the interplay of light and shadow, I created a series of intimate portraits with Irina Lozovaya, blending elegance with raw emotion.
In this project, I aimed to explore the interplay between light and shadow, creating portraits that go beyond mere representation. Working with Irina Lozovaya as the model allowed me to push the boundaries of storytelling through expression and subtle gestures. The focus was on creating a minimalist yet powerful atmosphere, where every shadow became a brushstroke and every highlight added dimension. My goal was to evoke a sense of timeless elegance while emphasizing Irina’s natural grace and strength.
I deliberately employed a sculptural approach to lighting, using a single light source and carefully placed reflectors to carve out textures and contours. By adjusting the angle and intensity of the light, I was able to highlight specific features while allowing parts of the image to fade into shadow. This technique not only created depth but also left room for the imagination, inviting viewers to interpret what remains unseen.
This is the first set of this body of work, stay tuned to see the second part in a few weeks.
