The last summer, during one of my BeInspired Photography Workshops, I had the pleasure of working with the talented model Melanie at a stunning industrial site. The old structures, with their weathered textures and expansive open spaces, provided a fascinating backdrop that challenged us to explore light in all its nuances.

The interplay of light was central to my photographic vision for this series. From the soft, diffused light filtering through aged glass windows to the bold contrasts created by stark shadows against the rugged walls, every setting offered unique opportunities to highlight Melanie’s presence and emotions. The way light sculpted her features and interacted with the industrial surroundings added depth and character to each photograph.

We moved through various locations within the site, from sunlit corridors to dimly lit corners, intentionally selecting scenes where the light could tell its own story. Each shot was an experiment in using natural light and shadow to enhance the mood and texture of the images. By engaging with the ever-changing light conditions, we were able to create a diverse and cohesive series that beautifully captures the essence of the space and the energy of the moment.

This workshop wasn’t just about taking pictures—it was about understanding how light transforms a scene and embracing the creative possibilities it brings. The result is a collection of images that reflect not only the industrial character of the setting but also the artistic collaboration that made it all possible.
