A quiet collaboration where light chose honesty.

The images of actress Cosima Seibold were created in my Zurich studio in 2022, during a session that felt less like a performance and more like a conversation unfolding in stillness. From the beginning, my intention was to strip the setting down to its essentials, allowing space for breath, for pauses, for presence. The studio became a calm container where nothing needed to be added, only observed.

What stands out across the work is a sense of ease—nothing appears forced or over-directed. The light wraps gently around the subject, revealing texture and emotion without dramatizing them. Shadows remain soft, transitions are gradual, and the monochromatic palette encourages the viewer to linger on expression rather than distraction. The images feel intimate but not intrusive, inviting rather than demanding attention.

These portraits are about restraint, not reduction.

The natural quality that mattered most to me emerges in the way posture, gaze, and stillness coexist. There is vulnerability here, but also strength—a quiet confidence that comes from being seen without embellishment. For the viewer, the effect is subtle and lasting: the photographs don’t ask to be decoded quickly, they ask to be felt over time.

This editorial shows only a small selection from an extensive body of work created during the shoot. The full result spans a wide emotional range, shaped by rhythm and trust developed throughout the day. A significant part of that atmosphere came from the wonderful collaboration with hair and make-up artist Anna Limacher, whose sensitive approach supported the natural aesthetic we were aiming for. Together, the process felt fluid, respectful, and deeply aligned—one of those rare sessions where everything simply falls into place.
